Research on internet and MS Support mentions "code 43"error, but not how to fix it. Larger USB drives seem to be OK, including self powered 500GB drives. When I plug any of them in, they briefly appear in Explorer, but disappear as soon as I click to open the drive. Recently my SanDisk Cruzer Switch drives will not stay mounted.
